Bay & Jackson Traffic Updates
FDOT Traffic Advisory for Bay and Jackson Counties
Chipley, FL– Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Bay and Jackson counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.
Bay County:
· U.S. 98 west of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to east of Louisiana Avenue – U.S. 98 drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures, between Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue and Louisiana Avenue, through Sunday, June 30.
· U.S. 98 Widening from Mandy Lane to east of Nautilus Street – Drivers will encounter alternating lane closures on U.S. 98, between Pier Park Drive and Cambridge Boulevard, Sunday, May 19 through Wednesday, May 22 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Construction crews will be placing drainage beneath the existing roadway. In addition, the Nautilus Station driveway will be closed from Monday, May 20 until Tuesday, May 21. Drivers should utilize Nautilus Street North to access the shopping plaza.
- State Road (S.R.) 370 (Gulf Coast Parkway) – Star Avenue motorists will shift to a temporary detour south of Tram Road beginning 8 a.m. Monday, May 20 to allow crews to construct the new intersection. Traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
- U.S. 98 Widening from east of Nautilus Street to east of Richard Jackson Boulevard – Westbound drivers will encounter alternating lane closures on U.S. 98, between Clara Avenue and Nautilus Street, Monday, May 20 through Thursday, May 23 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Construction crews will be striping pavement.
- Hutchison Boulevard from U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) to U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) – Drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, May 20 through Thursday, May 23 from 7:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. between Richard Jackson Boulevard and Clara Avenue as crews perform drainage construction activities. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
- S.R. 79 Routine Bridge Inspections over West Bay Bridge – Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures north of U.S. 98 Tuesday, May 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. routine inspections.
Jackson County:
- U.S. 90 Resurfacing from Chipola River Bridge to east of S.R. 71 South – Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, May 20 through Friday, May 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for construction activities.
- S.R. 71 Resurfacing from U.S. 90 to Basswood Road – Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, May 20 through Friday, May 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for construction activities.
All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to the reduced speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone. Speeding fines double when workers are present.
