Franklin County Update: Mandatory Evacuation Orders for Affected Areas

Franklin County Update: Mandatory Evacuation Orders for Affected Areas

In response to the Westward Shift of the storm track, the previously issued Voluntary Evacuation has been upgraded to a Mandatory Evacuation in Franklin County. This applies to all residents residing in Barrier Islands, Low Lying Areas, Mobile Homes, and RV Parks. Further evacuation directives may be issued tomorrow morning, pending any alterations in the storm’s trajectory or strength.

If you have concerns about your safety, it is strongly advised that you refrain from staying at home during the storm. Please evacuate the area until the storm subsides, and only return when it is safe to do so. Ensure you have taken the necessary measures to secure your residence before leaving.

To accommodate the situation, Franklin County Schools will be closed on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, and Wednesday, August 30, 2023. Additionally, County Government offices will be closed on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.

As a reminder, the sandbag distribution points are no longer operational. Stay updated through reliable sources such as local news outlets and the Franklin County Emergency Management Facebook page for the latest information.
