Bay County League of Women Voters hosted Bay Co. Primary Candidates Forum
Panama City, Florida – Monday night at Gulf Coast State College, in the Student Union East conference room, with social distancing, and room capacity limited, the Bay County League Of Women Voters hosted a candidate forum to give local candidates a chance to speak with the community.
Due to the ongoing pandemic for COVID-19, many campaigns were scaled back from in person campaigning, and most have had to result to using digital methods to get their messages across to the voters. Using CDC guidelines, the Bay County of League of Women Voters, in partnership with Gulf Coast State College were able come up with a plan to host a candidate forum. The seating capacity was limited to 50 people, and seating was spaced out to 6ft apart, with masks being required to be worn while in the building.
Locals got to hear from candidates for the offices of Bay County County Commissioner, Bay District School Board, and Bay District School Superintendent, as questions were asked from the league. Candidates drew numbers randomly before the forum to select which questions they would answer, and who would go first.
The video below was recorded and broadcast to Gulf Coast State College HD-TV on Comcast channel 6, as well as to the Commodore Productions Facebook page live during the event.
The Bay County League Of Women Voters say they plan to hold another candidate forum before the general election in November.
