FDOT Traffic Advisory for Bay and Jackson Counties

CHIPLEY, FL – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Bay and Jackson counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.

Bay County:

·         U.S. 98 Construction west of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to east of Louisiana Avenue U.S. 98 drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures, between Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue and Louisiana Avenue, through the end of November. In addition, Tyndall AFB has temporarily closed the Airey Avenue gate. The gate is expected to remain closed through early November. During the closure, personnel are advised to use the commercial gate for entering/exiting the installation.

  • State Road (S.R.) 390 Bridge over Mill Bayou Drivers may experience brief travel delays near the Mill Bayou Bridge through Saturday, Oct. 26. Crews will be delivering materials needed for the reconstruction of the bridge.
  • S.R. 390 Widening from 23rd Street to Baldwin Road  Crews will be initiating a S.R. 390 traffic shift, from Ruth Hentz Avenue to Lisenby Avenue, Wednesday, Oct. 23 beginning at 8 p.m. The shift is planned to be in place by Thursday, Oct. 24 at 6 a.m.
  • Gulf Coast Parkway Construction from U.S. 98 (Tyndall Parkway) to Star Avenue – U.S. 98 (Tyndall Parkway) drivers may encounter intermittent daytime and nighttime lane closures on U.S. 98 (Tyndall Parkway) from 11th Street to Tram Road through Sunday, Oct. 27. The lane closure is necessary to allow oversized equipment to access the S.R. 370 (Gulf Coast Parkway) construction site. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
  • East 12th Street Shoulder Improvements from S.R. 390 to Pennsylvania Avenue – Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures through Friday, Oct. 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for construction activities.
  • U.S. 98 Routine Bridge Maintenance over Thomas Drive – Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures Tuesday, Oct. 22 and Wednesday, Oct. 23 from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. for routine bridge maintenance

Jackson County:

·         S.R. 71 Resurfacing from U.S. 90 to North of Basswood Road – Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures through Thursday, Oct. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for construction activities.

·         U.S. 90 (S.R. 10) from west of U.S. 231 (U.S. 75) to west of CSX Overpass Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures through Sunday, Oct. 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for construction activities.

All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to the reduced speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone. Speeding fines double when workers are present.
