Franklin County’s Last Chance for Evacuation as Hurricane Helene Intensifies

FRANKLIN COUNTY, FL – As Hurricane Helene rapidly approaches the Florida coast, Franklin County officials are urging residents without transportation to take advantage of the final evacuation bus headed to safety. The bus will arrive at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department today at 1:45 p.m. (EST) and will depart promptly at 2:15 p.m. (EST) or once it reaches capacity. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, so residents in need of transportation are encouraged to be at the Sheriff’s Department by 1:45 p.m. (EST) for their last chance to evacuate.

This is the final opportunity for transportation assistance ahead of the storm, which is expected to bring catastrophic storm surges, hurricane-force winds, and severe flooding to the Florida Big Bend region. Those staying in the area should complete all preparations to protect life and property before the storm makes landfall.

For any hurricane-related health concerns, Franklin County residents can call (850) 653-2111 (press 2), while Gulf County residents should call (850) 227-1276 (press 2).
