Bay and Jackson Traffic Advisory
CHIPLEY, FL – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Bay and Jackson counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.
Bay County:
· U.S. 98 Construction west of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to east of Louisiana Avenue – U.S. 98 drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures, between Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue and Louisiana Avenue, through the end of November. In addition, the Airey Avenue gate will be closed through mid-October. During the closure, personnel are advised to use the commercial gate for entering/exiting the installation.
· State Road (S.R. 390) Widening from 23rd Street to Baldwin Road – S.R. 390 drivers will encounter alternating lane closures near the 23rd Street intersection through Thursday, Sept. 19 from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. Crews will be striping the roadway. Law enforcement will be on site to safely direct drivers through the work zone.
- U.S. 98 (Panama City Beach Parkway) Resurfacing from Walton County Line to Heather Drive – Drivers will encounter nighttime intermittent lane closures through Thursday, Sept. 19 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for asphalt paving activities.
- S.R. 390 Bridge over Mill Bayou – S.R. 390 drivers may experience brief travel delays near the Mill Bayou Bridge through Saturday, Sept. 21. Crews will be delivering materials needed for the reconstruction of the bridge.
- Gulf Coast Parkway Construction from U.S. 98 (Tyndall Parkway) to Star Avenue – U.S. 98 (Tyndall Parkway) drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures on U.S. 98 (Tyndall Parkway) from 11th Street to Tram Road through Sunday, Sept. 22 as crews perform drainage structure installation and curb and gutter installation. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
- East 12th Street Shoulder Improvements from S.R. 390 to Pennsylvania Avenue – Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures through Friday, Sept. 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for construction activities.
Jackson County:
· U.S. 90 Resurfacing from Chipola River Bridge to east of S.R. 71 South – Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures through Thursday, Sept. 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for construction activities.
· U.S. 231 Resurfacing from North of Brock Road to South of Dilmore Road – Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures through Friday, Sept. 20 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for construction activities
All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to the reduced speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone. Speeding fines double when workers are present.
