FDOT Traffic Advisory for Bay and Jackson Counties

CHIPLEY, FL – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Bay and Jackson counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.

Bay County:

·         U.S. 98 west of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to east of Louisiana Avenue – U.S. 98 drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures, between Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue and Louisiana Avenue, through the end of September.

• State Road (S.R.) 390 Widening from 23rd Street to Baldwin Road – Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on S.R. 390 at the following locations for paving work:
  • Intersection of Frankford Avenue and S.R. 390 from Sunday, Aug. 25 to Monday, Aug. 26.
  • Intersection of Airport Road and S.R. 390 from Tuesday, Aug. 27 to Wednesday, Aug. 28.
  • Intersection of 23rd Street and S.R. 390 from Sunday, Aug. 25 to Monday, Aug. 26.

In addition, 23rd Street drivers will encounter periodic alternating lane closures Tuesday, Aug. 27 through Thursday, Aug. 29 for pavement restriping. Law enforcement personnel will be on-site to safely direct drivers thought the work zone

• U.S. 98 Widening from Mandy Lane to east of Nautilus Street – The U.S. 98 median crossover into the Summerwood neighborhood will be closed Monday, Aug. 26 through Thursday, Aug. 29.
• Hutchison Boulevard from U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) to U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) – Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. as crews perform sidewalk and concrete work throughout the project area. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
• U.S. 98 (Panama City Beach Parkway) Resurfacing from Walton County Line to Heather Drive – Drivers will encounter nighttime intermittent lane closures Sunday, Aug. 25 through Thursday, Aug. 29 for asphalt paving activities.
• U.S. 98 Widening from east of Nautilus Street to east of Richard Jackson Boulevard– Cox Grade Road will be closed at the U.S. 98 intersection, Sunday, Aug. 25 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Construction crews will be installing drainage system components. 
• S.R. 390 Bridge over Mill Bayou – S.R. 390 drivers may experience brief travel delays near the Mill Bayou Bridge Sunday, Aug. 25 through Saturday, Aug. 31. Crews will be delivering materials needed for the reconstruction of the bridge
• Gulf Coast Parkway Construction from U.S. 98 (Tyndall Parkway) to Star Avenue – Drivers may encounter a lane closure on westbound U.S. 98 (Tyndall Parkway) from 11th Street to Tram Road beginning Monday, Aug. 26 through Saturday, Aug. 31 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. The lane closure is necessary to allow oversized equipment to access the S.R. 370 (Gulf Coast Parkway) construction site. Traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
• East 12th Street Shoulder Improvements from S.R. 390 to Pennsylvania Avenue – Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for construction activities.

Jackson County:

·         U.S. 90 Resurfacing from Chipola River Bridge to east of S.R. 71 South – Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures Sunday, Aug. 25 through Thursday, Ang. 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for construction activities.

·         S.R. 71 Resurfacing from U.S. 90 to North of Basswood Road – Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures Sunday, Aug. 25 through Thursday, Aug. 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for construction activities.

All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to the reduced speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone. Speeding fines double when workers are present.
