Road Work Ahead!
FDOT Traffic Advisory for Bay and Jackson Counties
Chipley, FL – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Bay and Jackson counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.
Bay County:
- · U.S. 98 west of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to east of Louisiana Avenue – U.S. 98 drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures, between Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue and Louisiana Avenue, through the end of June.
- U.S. 98 Widening from Mandy Lane to east of Nautilus Street – Drivers may encounter intermittent alternating single-lane closures for the following operations:
- Gulf Boulevard – Through Thursday, June 6, Gulf Boulevard will be under construction for drainage installation. Drivers will have two lanes of access but should exercise caution while driving through the construction zone.
- Nautilus Cove Apartments/U.S. 98 Intersection – Through Thursday, June 6, will be partially closed for drainage installation. Drivers should use the entrance on Nautilus Street for access to the apartment complex.
- Nautilus Street/U.S. 98 Intersection – Through Wednesday, June 5, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Drivers may encounter single-lane closures while crews install temporary traffic signals at the intersection.
- State Road (S.R.) 370 (Gulf Coast Parkway) – U.S. 98 (Tyndall Parkway) drivers will encounter a lane closure from East 11th Street to Tram Road through Friday, June 7 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. for turn lane construction. Traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
- Hutchison Boulevard from U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) to U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) – Drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures through Friday, June 7 from 7:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. between Richard Jackson Boulevard and Clara Avenue as crews perform drainage construction activities. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
- U.S. 98 (Panama City Beach Parkway) Resurfacing from Walton County Line to Heather Drive – Drivers will encounter nighttime intermittent lane closures through Thursday, June 6 for asphalt paving activities.
All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to the reduced speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone. Speeding fines double when workers are present.
