FSU PC: Research & Preview
FSU Panama City to hold Research Symposium, Preview Day on Friday, April 19
Students Will Present Research Projects, and Prospective Students Learn About Campus
PANAMA CITY, FL— Two big annual events will take place on Friday, April 19, at Florida State University Panama City, with the Student Research Symposium from 9 a.m. to noon and Preview Day from 1-4 p.m.
The FSU PC Student Research Symposium is an annual showcase for students from all majors to present their work to the university community. Student researchers from FSU, area schools and community colleges may also present their work in a poster or creative format. Keynote speaker Jessica E. Graham, Ph.D., is director of the St. Andrew and St. Joseph Bays Estuary Program.
“The goal of the symposium is to get our students more involved in research,” said Karen Works, Ph.D., assistant teaching professor in Computer Science at FSU PC. “This event gives our students an opportunity to present their research to a multi-disciplinary audience in a way that is designed to simulate a professional conference presentation.”
Just as the symposium is winding down, Preview Day will get rolling, with prospective students and their families invited to discover the benefits of enrolling in their hometown university. Check-in begins at 1 p.m. and the agenda starts at 1:30 p.m. Visitors may meet with faculty, academic advisors and financial aid advisors to learn more about unique opportunities available at FSU Panama City, then tour the campus and Seminole Landing, FSU PC’s residential housing complex on the shore of St. Andrew Bay.
“This event offers various on-campus opportunities to reinforce the FSU PC Promise,” said David Henry, director of Enrollment Management & Student Success. “The FSU PC Promise confirms the commitment to partner with students and prepare them for their next steps. It also establishes their path and reminds them that FSU Panama City will always be their home.”
Both events will take place at the Holley Academic Center, 4750 Collegiate Drive, Panama City.
