Navigating the Road: Advisory for Bay and Jackson Counties
Chipley, FL – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Bay and Jackson counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.
Bay County:
· State Road (S.R.) 390 Widening from 23rd Street to Baldwin Road –S.R. 390 north and southbound traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed travel lanes from Island View Drive to Fairland Avenue, Tuesday, Feb. 20 between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
· U.S. 98 Widening West of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to East of Louisiana Avenue – U.S. 98 drivers may encounter day and nighttime intermittent east or westbound lane closures, between Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue and Louisiana Avenue, through Friday, March 1.
· U.S. 98 Widening Mandy Lane to East of Nautilus Street – U.S. 98 east and westbound drivers, between Pier Park Drive and Gulf Boulevard, will encounter intermittent and alternating lane closures, Sunday, Feb. 18 through Saturday, Feb. 24 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Construction crews will be preparing for a lane shift and barrier wall installation at this location.
· S.R. 392A (Hutchison Boulevard) from U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) to U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) – Drivers will encounter daytime intermittent lane closures beginning 8 a.m. Monday, Feb. 19 through Saturday, Feb. 24 between Richard Jackson Boulevard and Clara Avenue as crews perform sidewalk and drainage construction activities. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
· U.S. 98 Widening East of Nautilus Street to East of Richard Jackson Boulevard – U.S. 98 westbound drivers, between Alf Coleman Road and Clara Avenue, will encounter intermittent lane closures from 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21 through 6 a.m. Friday, Feb. 23. Construction crews will be striping new lanes along this section.
Jackson County:
- U.S. 90 Resurfacing from Chipola River Bridge to East of S.R. 71 South – Motorists will encounter intermittent daytime westbound lane closures Monday, Feb. 19 through Friday, Feb. 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for construction activities.
· Interstate 10 Routine Bridge Maintenance over S.R. 71 (Exit 142) – Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures east of the Chipola River Monday, Feb. 19 and Tuesday, Feb. 20 from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. for routine bridge maintenance.
All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to the reduced speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone. Speeding fines double when workers are present.
