FDOT Updates for Bay and Jackson Counties

Chipley, FL – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Bay and Jackson counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.

Bay County:

·         U.S. 98 Widening West of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to East of Louisiana Avenue – U.S. 98 drivers may encounter day and nighttime intermittent east or westbound lane closures, between Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue and Louisiana Avenue, through Friday, March 1.

·         U.S. 98 Widening Mandy Lane to East of Nautilus Street – U.S. 98 east and westbound drivers, between Pier Park Drive and Gulf Boulevard, will encounter intermittent and alternating lane closures, through Saturday, Feb. 17 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Construction crews will be preparing for a lane shift at this location.

·         State Road (S.R.) 392A (Hutchison Boulevard) from U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) to U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) – Drivers will encounter daytime intermittent lane closures through Saturday, Feb. 17 between Richard Jackson Boulevard and Clara Avenue as crews perform sidewalk and drainage construction activities. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.

·         U.S. 98 (Panama City Beach Parkway) Resurfacing from Walton County Line to Heather Drive – Drivers will encounter daytime intermittent lane closures through Friday, Feb. 16. Daytime crews will continue working on earthwork excavation, and embankment backfill for shared-use path and sidewalk construction, drainage installation, paving turn lanes/side streets and sidewalk concrete placement between Camp Helen State Park to Heather Drive.

·         U.S. 98 Routine Maintenance at Sabre Drive – Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures through Thursday, Feb. 15 from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. for signalization operations.

·         U.S. 98 Routine Maintenance at Thornton Lane – Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures through Thursday, Feb. 15 from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. for signalization operations.

·         U.S. 98 Routine Maintenance at Boatrace Road – Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures through Thursday, Feb. 15 from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. for signalization operations.

Jackson County:

·         S.R. 71 Routine Bridge Maintenance over Rocky Creek – Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures north of the Calhoun County Line Wednesday, Feb. 14 and Thursday, Feb. 15 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for routine bridge maintenance.

All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to the reduced speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone. Speeding fines double when workers are present.
