Beat the Bite, Find Warmth: Bay County Opens Shelters as Temperatures Dip
With chilly nights biting at Bay County, the local government is opening their doors to provide safety and comfort to any resident in need at two warming centers. Whether you’re facing cold temperatures at home or lack a secure place to sleep, these shelters offer a warm refuge from the elements
A.D. Harris Learning Center (819 E. 11th St., Panama City):
- Open every night from Thursday, January 18th through Sunday, January 21st.
- Doors open at 6:00 PM and remain open until morning.
- No reservations needed, anyone seeking shelter is welcome.
Gulf Beach Presbyterian Church (271 South State Road 79, Panama City Beach):
- Reopening Friday, January 19th at 6:00 PM and staying open nightly through Sunday morning.
- Offers a warm haven for anyone needing overnight shelter.
Staying Warm and Getting There:
Bayway Transit is offering free rides to both centers. Simply call (850) 215-7226 or (850) 215-0607 and let them know you’re heading to the warming center. For A.D. Harris, you can also hop on Route 2 or 4.
