FDOT Traffic Advisory
Navigating Construction in Bay and Jackson Counties
Chipley, Fla. – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Bay and Jackson counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.
Bay County:
· U.S. 98 Widening West of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to east of Louisiana Avenue – U.S. 98 drivers may encounter day and nighttime intermittent east or westbound lane closures, between Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue and Louisiana Avenue, through Friday, Feb. 2.
· U.S. 98 Widening Mandy Lane to east of Nautilus Street – U.S. 98 east and westbound drivers between Pier Park Drive and Gulf Boulevard will encounter alternating nighttime lane closures Sunday, Jan. 21 through Saturday, Jan. 27 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Construction crews will be placing temporary asphalt and striping the roadway shoulders in preparation for the next phase of construction.
· State Road (S.R.) 392A (Hutchison Boulevard) from U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) to U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) – Drivers will encounter daytime intermittent lane closures beginning 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22 through Saturday, Jan. 27 between Richard Jackson Boulevard and Clara Avenue as crews perform sidewalk and drainage construction activities. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
· U.S. 98 (Panama City Beach Parkway) Resurfacing from Walton County Line to Heather Drive – Drivers will encounter daytime intermittent lane closures Monday, Jan. 22 through Friday, Jan. 26. Daytime crews will continue working on earthwork excavation, and embankment backfill for shared use path and sidewalk construction, drainage installation, paving turn lanes/side streets and sidewalk concrete placement between Camp Helen State Park to Heather Drive.
· S.R. 390 Widening from 23rd Street to Baldwin Road – S.R. 390 southbound (Lynn Haven to Panama City) traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed travel lanes from north of Baldwin Road to Lisenby Avenue, Wednesday, Jan. 24 between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. S.R. 390 northbound (Panama City to Lynn Haven) traffic will not be impacted by this traffic shift. In addition, the S.R. 390 median crossover at Stanford Road will be closed for approximately three weeks.
Jackson County:
· U.S. 90 (S.R. 10) from West of U.S. 231 (U.S. 75) to West of CSX Overpass – Drivers will encounter intermittent shoulder closures from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22 through Friday, Jan. 26 on U.S. 90 near Cottondale Elementary School for sidewalk improvement activities. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
· Interstate 10 Routine Bridge Maintenance over S.R. 276 Overpass – Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures west of S.R. 73 Sunday, Jan. 21 and Monday, Jan. 22 from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. for routine bridge maintenance.
All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to the reduced speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone. Speeding fines double when workers are present.
