Traffic Advisory: Construction Updates in Bay & Jackson Counties

FDOT Traffic Advisory for Bay and Jackson Counties

Chipley, Fla. – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Bay and Jackson counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.

Bay County:

• U.S. 98 Widening West of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to East of Louisiana Avenue – U.S. 98 drivers may encounter day and nighttime intermittent east or westbound lane closures, between Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue and Louisiana Avenue, through Friday, Dec. 22.
• Hutchison Boulevard (Middle Beach Road) Resurfacing from U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) to U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) – Drivers will encounter daytime intermittent lane closures through Saturday, Dec. 23 between Alf Coleman Road and the intersection of Hutchison Boulevard and Front Beach Road at the east end of the project as crews perform sidewalk and drainage construction activities. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
• U.S. 98 Widening, Mandy Lane to east of Nautilus Street – U.S. 98 eastbound drivers will encounter daytime right-turn lane closures through Friday, Dec. 22 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Powell Adams Drive to Pier Park Drive.

Jackson County:

• U.S. 90 Resurfacing from West of U.S. 231 to West of CSX Overpass –Drivers will encounter intermittent shoulder closures from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.  through Friday, Dec. 22 on U.S. 90 near Cottondale Elementary School. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
• U.S. 90 Intersection Improvement at State Road (S.R.) 73 Intersection – Drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures through Saturday, Dec. 23 near the intersection of U.S. 90 and S.R. 73 as crews install slip curb as part of a temporary detour. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
• U.S. 90 Resurfacing from Chipola River Bridge to East of S.R. 71 South – Motorists will encounter intermittent daytime westbound lane closures through Friday, Dec. 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for construction activities.

All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to the reduced speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction
equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone. Speeding fines double when workers are present.
