Attending Live Events Creates Lifelong Memories for Veterans
Going to live events like concerts, sports games, and theater performances is how many of us enjoy entertainment and relax. These experiences are especially meaningful for veterans and those currently serving, who have often missed out on life events with loved ones while deployed or on duty. Providing tickets to shows and games is one great way to show appreciation for their service.
Vet Tix is a national nonprofit that gives free event tickets to veterans of all eras, active duty military, and families of those killed in action. Becoming a member is free – you just need proof of military service. Vet Tix receives ticket donations for sporting events, concerts, theater, rodeos, and more. They’ve given out over 16 million tickets to more than 200,000 events across the country.
Founder Michael Focareto, a Navy veteran, started Vet Tix in 2008. The aim is to honor service members by creating positive experiences for them and their families. Ticket costs often put popular events out of reach, with prices from $200-500 for a family. Vet Tix makes cherished memories accessible.
Members, known as VetTixers, share how much the program means to them. Attending events has helped them address challenges and bond with relatives. As one Army veteran put it, “This is more than a ticket to an event, it’s a ticket to the rest of my life.”
Vet Tix succeeds thanks to generous donors. Their continued support allows the nonprofit to carry out its mission of giving back to veterans. With over one million testimonials praising Vet Tix, it’s clear the program delivers once-in-a-lifetime experiences. For veterans, these special memories last long after the event is over.
