FDOT Traffic Advisory for Bay and Jackson Counties
Chipley, Fla. – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Bay and Jackson counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.
Bay County:
U.S. 98 Widening west of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to east of Louisiana Avenue – U.S. 98 drivers may encounter day and nighttime intermittent east or westbound lane closures, between Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue and Louisiana Avenue through Wednesday, Nov. 15.
· State Road (S.R.) 388 from S.R. 79 to east of Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport – S.R. 388 drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, Oct. 9 through Friday, Oct. 13 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. for striping work. Traffic at the S.R. 79/Margaritaville Watersound intersection will be affected. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
· Hutchison Boulevard (Middle Beach Road) Resurfacing from U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) to U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) – Drivers will encounter daytime intermittent lane closures from 8 a.m. Monday, Oct. 9 through Saturday, Oct. 14 between Alf Coleman Road and the intersection of Hutchison Boulevard and Front Beach Road at the east end of the project as crews perform sidewalk and drainage construction activities. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
· S.R. 390 Widening from Jenks Avenue to S.R. 77 – Intermittent and alternating lane closures on S.R. 390 will occur near the Indiana Avenue intersection Monday, Oct. 9 through Friday, Oct. 13 from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. Construction crews will be working near the shoulder of the roadway.
Jackson County:
· U.S. 90, Cottondale High School Homecoming Parade – U.S. 90 will be closed from Willow Street to Magnolia Avenue on Friday, Oct. 6 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. for the Cottondale High School homecoming parade.
· U.S. 90 Resurfacing from Chipola River Bridge to east of S.R. 71 South – Motorists will encounter intermittent daytime westbound lane closures Monday, Oct. 9 through Friday, Oct. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for construction activities.
All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to the reduced speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone. Speeding fines double when workers are present.
