Navigating the Road: Lane Closures and Resurfacing by FDOT
Bay County, FL- The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is committed to enhancing road conditions for smoother and safer travels. As part of their ongoing efforts, several roadwork projects are scheduled that might impact your commute. Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming lane closures and resurfacing activities:
1. U.S. 98 (Panama City Beach Parkway) Resurfacing – From Walton County Line to Heather Drive
- Timeframe: Nighttime lane closures through Thursday, August 17, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Purpose: Paving operations to improve road quality.
2. S.R. 79 Resurfacing – From U.S. 98 to the West Bay Bridge
- Northbound Traffic Impact: Reduced to one lane from U.S. 98 intersection to south of Escanaba Avenue.
- Dates: Monday, August 14 to Friday, August 25.
- Work Scope: Storm drainage, curb and gutter, and sidewalk work.
- Lane Closure: Inside left turn lane from U.S. 98 eastbound to S.R. 79 northbound will be closed. The U.S. 98 outside left turn lane to S.R. 79 northbound will remain open.
3. S.R. 388 Resurfacing – From S.R. 79 to East of Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport
- Lane Closures: Nighttime intermittent closures until Friday, August 18, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Additional intermittent closures may happen between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.
- Impact: S.R. 388 drivers will experience these closures while S.R. 79 traffic remains unaffected.
- Focus: Asphalt friction course placement for improved road surface.
- Traffic Control: Appropriate signs and devices will guide you through the work zone.
