FDOT Traffic Advisory for Bay and Jackson Counties
Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Bay and Jackson counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.
Bay County:
· Harrison Avenue (U.S. 231) Resurfacing from 6th Street to 15th Street – Drivers on Harrison Avenue will encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, Aug. 7 through Wednesday, Aug. 9 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for asphalt pavement and sidewalk construction activities. In addition, nighttime intermittent lane closures will occur Thursday, Aug. 10 and Friday, Aug. 11 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
· U.S. 98 (Panama City Beach Parkway) Resurfacing from Walton County Line to Heather Drive – Motorists will encounter nighttime lane closures Sunday, Aug. 6 through Thursday, Aug. 10 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving operations.
· U.S. 98 West of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to east of Louisiana Avenue – U.S. 98 drivers may encounter day and nighttime intermittent east or westbound lane closures, between Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue and Louisiana Avenue, through Thursday, Aug. 31.
· State Road (S.R.) 388 from S.R. 79 to east of Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport – S.R. 388 drivers will encounter nighttime intermittent lane closures Monday, Aug. 7 through Friday, Aug. 11 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for asphalt friction course placement. Intermittent lane closures may occasionally occur between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. S.R. 79 traffic will not be affected. Traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
Jackson County:
· U.S. 90 Resurfacing from Chipola River Bridge to east of S.R. 71 South – Motorists will encounter intermittent daytime westbound lane closures Monday, Aug. 7 through Friday, Aug. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for paving operations.
· Interstate 10 (I-10) Safety Project Eastbound at U.S. 231 Off-Ramp – Drivers will encounter nighttime intermittent lane closures on I-10 at the U.S. 231 eastbound exit lane (Exit 130) Tuesday, Aug. 8 through Thursday, Aug. 10 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. to remove barrier wall. Traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
· U.S. 90 Coring Operations over the Chipola River Bridge – Motorists will encounter intermittent nighttime lane closures Monday, Aug. 7 through Tuesday, Aug. 15 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for coring operations.
All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to the reduced speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone. Speeding fines double when workers are present.
