Bay County Chamber Thanks Lifeguards in Panama City Beach for their Dedicated Efforts in Ensuring Public Safety this Summer

PANAMA CITY, Fla. -The Bay County Chamber is expressing its appreciation for Panama City Beach lifeguards by delivering them lunch on July 19, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Russell-Fields Pier. These professionals have shown exceptional commitment in keeping residents and visitors safe, even in the face of increased dangers presented by hazardous beach conditions.

“The Bay County Chamber is incredibly grateful for the efforts of our lifeguards who ensure the safety of our community and visitors,” said Carol Roberts, President/CEO of the Bay County Chamber. “Their watchful eyes and prompt response to distress signals have undoubtedly saved lives and prevented numerous incidents.”

Double Red Flag Days signify the most dangerous beach conditions, indicating that water activities are strictly prohibited due to rip currents and strong undertows. Rip currents can pose significant risks to even the most experienced swimmers. These powerful and narrow channels of fast-moving water can pull swimmers away from the shore and into deeper waters, leading to potentially life-threatening situations.

The Bay County Chamber encourages everyone to be mindful of beach safety guidelines and to follow the advice of lifeguards, especially during Double Red Flag Days. It is essential to understand the risks associated with hazardous water conditions and to respect the expertise of the lifeguards, who are trained to ensure the well-being of all beachgoers.

Since 1913, the Bay County Chamber of Commerce has served businesses in Callaway, Lynn Haven, Mexico Beach, Panama City, Panama City Beach, Parker, Springfield and unincorporated Bay County. For more information, visit PanamaCity.org or contact the Bay County Chamber at 850-785-5206.
