The Mix
The EMS Instructor for the Emergency Medical Technician program, Liliana Zamora, joined The Mix to talk about upcoming summer classes. The EMS program at Gulf Coast State College has some upcoming deadlines for their summer classes which include the application deadline ending April, 8th, and classes will begin on May 11th. All classes are held at the North Bay Campus in Southport. The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course is twelve (12) credit hours.
The EMT courses are held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. During the Summer semester lecture is on Mondays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. CST. The lab is on Tuesdays with occasional Saturday classes. Students will be placed in one of two labs, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. or 1:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. CST.
Students will have to attend two (2) days of EVOC and Trauma Management classes held on Wednesdays, Fridays, or Saturdays during the semester. An Associate of Science Degree in Emergency Medical Services is also available. This option expands the EMT Program to 73 credit hours, which includes the general education courses.
