Dunkin McLane with GCSC Foundation Joins The Mix

The Mix

Dunkin McLane, the Assistant Director for the Gulf Coast State College Foundation, joined The Mix to talk about what the Foundation does and the scholarships available to GCSC students and incoming students. Scholarship opportunities opened up on December 1st and will be open until March 15th.

The Foundation scholarships are open to current students in the program and incoming students as well. Some of the requirements include some general questions about the student and two essay portions.

We also talked about the variety of scholarships offered through the Foundation. Dunkin spoke about over 350 scholarship opportunities for students at Gulf Coast State College. One of the great things that Dunkin mentioned was that the scholarships have the ability to stack on top of one another. 

Gulf Coast State College students can access these scholarships on their My GCSC Portal page, and click the “Foundation Scholarship” button. New students will first need to apply to GCSC here, GCSC Application. Once students submit an application and are enrolled at GCSC, they will be able to apply for the various scholarship opportunities that the Foundation offers.

High School Seniors, Dual Enrolled Seniors, New and Returning GCSC Students:

Step 1: Apply for and be accepted into Gulf Coast State College. An applicant should have an assigned Gulf Coast State College student ID number beginning with an “A” (i.e. A00123456).

Step 2: Set up (or have an active) MyGCSC portal log-in and Gulf Coast State College email account (@my.gulfcoast.edu). If you need assistance with your set up or activation, please contact the GCSC IT Help Desk at (850) 913-3303.

Current Gulf Coast State College Students:

Step 3: (Optional) Consider applying for financial aid via the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The Gulf Coast State College school code is 001490.

Step 4: Go to www.gulfcoast.edu and log in to myGCSC and located the “Foundation Scholarship” link.

Step 5: Complete the Foundation’s general scholarship application and submit.
