Segment 1: Upcoming UAS Bootcamp...
Segment 2: The different types of Drones and why they are so important...
The Mix
On The Mix this week, Tony Lopez, the Gulf Coast State College Program Director for the Unmanned Vehicle Systems program joined the show to talk about the upcoming Stage 1 Bootcamp starting on October 18th. We were also joined by Fred Stevenson and Kevin Ward from Gulf Coast State College Tempest, which is a program that uses scenario-based training for first responders.
Starting October 18th, the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Pilot Bootcamp will begin for Stage 1 training on October 18th at Gulf Coast State College. Stage 2 will begin in the Spring. We also got to talk about what Gulf Coast Tempest is, and why it is so important for our communities.
UAS Training
Gulf Coast State College (GCSC) and the Unmanned Safety Institute (USI) have partnered to bring accelerated unmanned aviation training to our area.
This specialized training is for both those without prior experience and the serious drone hobbyist. Active military, veterans, spouses, and their dependents, are especially welcome and given priority approval.
Drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles are now being used across a broad spectrum of industries to improve our water, energy, transportation—even healthcare. This technology is deployed for severe weather event monitoring, surveying, photography, agriculture, and even construction projects. The Bootcamp training is done in two stages.
For more information on how you can get involved with the UAS and UVS programs, check out the website below or contact Tony Lopez for any questions.
