Gulf Coast State College Hosts 2020 General Election Candidates Forum with LWV of Bay County
Panama City, Florida – The League of Women Voters of Bay County hosted a General Election Candidates Forum for the offices of Bay County Commission District 4*, and State Representative District 6.** League members moderated the event.
*Bay County Commission District 4 seat is a special election to fill the term left vacant by the resignation and arrest of former Commissioner Keith Baker, on charges related to the public corruption investigation by federal authorities after Hurricane Michael.
**According to League of Women Voters of Bay County representatives, there was no response from the incumbent Republican, Jay Trumbull (State District 6), regarding participation in the Candidates Forum.
Commodore Productions, which is a student organization under the Digital Media Program at Gulf Coast State College, had several students broadcasting the Candidates Forum as part of a public service. The students were able to broadcast the event on the College’s local access TV channel on Comcast Channel 6, as well as streaming of the world wide web on their Facebook page. Students were able to get hands-on experience with real world events by running camera, audio, graphics, technical directing, and using state of the art equipment to distribute to multiple locations from their production studio on campus.
