Bay County Confirmed COVID-19 Positive Cases Climbs To 80

Panama City, Florida – Bay County received confirmation of two additional cases of COVID-19, the novel coronavirus. The persons ill with the virus are a 49-year-old male and a 54-year-old female. This brings Bay County’s total COVID-19 cases to 80.

The Florida Department of Health in Bay County (DOH-Bay) is now conducting its contact investigation and working on identifying and notifying individuals who will need to self-monitor for symptoms for a 14-day period. Contact investigations are a critical way for staff epidemiologists to track and prevent the spread of disease.

Today, we are announcing another drive through COVID-19 viral testing site. Thursday, May 21 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. we will be at the Youngstown/Fountain Recreational Complex at 12321 E. Hwy 20, Youngstown, FL 32466. Tuesday, May 19 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. drive through COVID-19 viral testing will be offered at Deane Bozeman School located at 13410 Hwy 77, Panama City, FL 32409. At both sites, we will test all adults with or without symptoms. Antibody testing is not available.

The percent of those testing positive for COVID-19 in Bay County overall is 4%. Of the 1,996 tests processed, there are 1,914 negative results. There are three Florida resident deaths in Bay County from COVID-19. The total Florida resident hospitalizations count is at 11.

The addresses of the 79 positive Bay County residents include; 51 in Panama City, 12 in Panama City Beach, one in Southport, seven in Lynn Haven, one in Parker, three in Youngstown, one in Tyndall Air Force Base, and three in Callaway.

The Florida Department of Health has launched a COVID-19 dashboard that will be updated daily at 10 am. The state also provides a report detailing surveillance data for every Florida county.
