Calhoun County Announces 6th Case of COVID-19

Blountstown, Florida – The Department of Health in Calhoun County (DOH-Calhoun) confirmed an additional case of COVID-19, the novel coronavirus. The person ill with the virus is a 58-year-old female. This brings Calhoun County’s total COVID-19 cases to 6. The age ranges for the cases in the county are from 20 to 88 years-old and all are residents of Blountstown. 

DOH-Calhoun is conducting its contact investigation and working on identifying and notifying individuals who will need to self-monitor for symptoms for a 14-day period. Contact investigations are a critical way for staff epidemiologists to track and prevent the spread of disease. A total of 76 tests have been processed for Calhoun County from private and public labs with 70 negative results.

Rachel Bryant, DOH-Calhoun/Liberty, Health Officer states, “everyone has a role in the stopping the spread of the virus. Our actions during the next two weeks will have a tremendous impact on the overall health of our community. It is imperative that all citizens stay home when sick. Furthermore, healthy individuals need to limit their movements to the most basic needs while maintaining the recommended social distancing guidelines of 6 feet from others. The Department of Health will continue to monitor and investigate cases and contacts to immediately isolate the source and prevent further spread.”
