City of Panama City Beach Starts Employee Screening
Panama City Beach, Florida – Capt. Jacob Gorman and firefighter Connor Montfort, right, use a no contact thermometer to check the temperature of Public Works engineer Kathy Younce Monday as she arrives at work. Screening for all employees began this week at the beginning of each shift. The goal is to stop the spread of COVID-19, therefore eliminating the potential for community spread. Bay County as only had one positive case of COVID-19 as of the story.
Any employee who has a fever of 100 degrees or more will be sent home immediately on sick leave. Employees are also asked three questions:
- Do you have a cough?
- Do you have a sore throat?
- Do you have shortness of breath?
Panama City Beach has put these measures into place as a means of protecting it’s workforce, and their families, as well as the community as a whole.
