Coronavirus guidelines adopted by the City of Panama City Beach

Panama City Beach, Florida – The Panama City Beach City Council held a special called meeting to hear from two public health specialists and the public and to reveal its Coronavirus Mitigation Action Plan as related to individual, employee, community and environmental protection measures. Saying they support the order issued by Gov. Ron DeSantis today, elected officials also took the following steps:

Prohibited all public gatherings at City facilities/property with more than 10 people until May 1.
Cancelled City recreational sports leagues, tournaments, organized team practices, and special events until May 1.
Closed Frank Brown Park Community Center and Lyndell Center for the next 60 days.
Encouraged all public places/businesses/restaurants/retail stores to have alcohol-based hand sanitizer at their entrances.
Encouraged citizens to utilize online or telephone services to conduct business with the City.
Recommended restaurant patrons to keep a six-foot distance and limit occupancy to 50 percent, per Gov. DeSantis.
Prohibited the public from congregating in groups larger than 10 on the beach, per Gov. DeSantis.
Close all bars and nightclubs for 30 days, per Gov. DeSantis.
Encouraged limiting public interaction with City services employees in: Utility billing, Code Enforcement, HR, Civil Service, building inspection, routine police and fire contact.
There will be no involuntary water utility shutoff and late payment delinquency action for 60 days.

Governor DeSantis’s executive order will reduce density and crowds in restaurants, bars, nightclubs and beaches to mitigate the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19). The order essentilly did three things:

Under the direction of the Governor, all bars and nightclubs throughout Florida will close for the next 30 days. The Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) will be enforcing and providing further guidance.
The Governor is directing parties accessing public beaches in the state of Florida to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance by limiting their gatherings to no more than 10 persons.
Restaurants across the state of Florida will now be required to limit customer entry to 50 percent of capacity. Seating must be staggered and limited to ensure seated parties are separated by a distance of at least six feet, in accordance with CDC guidelines. Restaurants are encouraged to remain open and expand take-out and delivery services.
