3rd Earthquake near NW Florida
Panama City, Florida – A third earthquake occurred in the same area as two recent earthquakes late Tuesday evening around 8:27 PM, Central Time according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
This earthquake measured in at magnitude of 2.3 according to the USGS. The depth of this earthquake was at 5.0 km below the surface. No reports of damage or injuries have been reported to local authorities. This is the 3rd earthquake to happen in less than a week in the area.
A magnitude 2.6 quake happened near the state line around Jay, Florida, last week, then magnitude 3.1 earthquake happened Monday around 1:30pm. Neither of those quakes caused any damage, either, but were felt up to 75 miles away.
These type of earthquake are usually not felt by those near the center and do not cause damage, according to the USGS.
