Another Earthquake near NW Florida – M 3.1

Panama City, Fl. – The USGS has reviewed a 2nd earthquake that occurred at 1:36pm cst today, just a few miles nw of last weeks 2.63 magnitude earthquake near Jay, Florida.

The earthquake was recorded near Flomaton, Alabama, just north of the Florida/Alabama state line. The earthquake was measured at a depth of 5.0 km down from surface.

This region where today’s earthquake occurred is known to have mapped faults and a history of small earthquakes according to the Alabama Emergency Management. These type of earthquakes at this magnitude are usually small enough not to cause damage, but are felt. 

No reports of major damage had been reported as of 7pm cst.
