Since the federal disaster declaration for Hurricane Michael, Washington County residents have received more than $10.1 million in total federal funds:
- More than $2.1 million in federal grants have gone to 781 homeowners and renters.
- Four flood insurance claims have been filed. An estimated $51,273 in claims have been paid.
- More than $7.8 million in U.S. Small Business Administration low-interest disaster loans have been approved for 268 homeowners and renters and seven businesses.
Housing Assistance:
- More than $1.2 million has been approved for basic housing repairs for 475 homeowners.
- More than 2,206 home inspections have been issued with 99.6 percent completed.
- Through Disaster Survivor Assistance outreach teams more than 3,314 survivors were connected with other recovery partners for needs beyond what FEMA can assist with.
- 306 homeowners and renters are approved for rental assistance.
- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has installed 122 blue roofs in Washington representing 122 families who are able to live in their homes while they make permanent repairs.
Debris Removal:
- Approximately 755,469 cubic yards of debris has been removed in Washington County as reported to the USACE.
Outreach to Survivors:
- The disaster recovery center at the Washington County Agricultural Center in Chipley opened Oct. 24 and closed Dec. 12 after assisting more than 1,764 visitors.
