Since the federal disaster declaration for Hurricane Michael, Franklin County residents have received more than $19.4 million in total federal funds:
- More than $1.7 million in federal grants have gone to 408 homeowners and renters.
- 773 flood insurance claims have been filed. An estimated $11.5 million in claims have been paid. (As of Dec. 14)
- More than $6.2 million in U.S. Small Business Administration low-interest disaster loans have been approved for 119 homeowners and renters and 24 businesses.
Housing Assistance:
- More than $1.1 million have been approved for basic housing repairs for 237 homeowners.
- More than 1,179 home inspections have been issued and more than 99.8 percent completed.
- Approximately 150 survivors have not provided FEMA with the necessary information from their insurance settlements to complete their disaster assistance registration.
- Through Disaster Survivor Assistance outreach more than 800 survivors were connected with disaster resources and recovery partners for needs beyond what FEMA can assist with.
- 209 homeowners and renters have been approved for rental assistance.
- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has installed 23 blue roofs in Franklin representing 23 families who are able to live in their homes while they make permanent repairs.
Debris removal:
- More than 282,000 cubic yards of debris has been removed in Franklin County.
Outreach to Survivors:
The disaster recovery center at the Carrabelle Public Library opened Oct. 23 and closed Dec. 12 after assisting more than 1,250 visitors.
