This SATURDAY on My Generation
SUNDAY at 8:00 PM |
| On-Stage |
WKGC On Stage spotlights upcoming activities of area performing arts groups throughout Northwest Florida. Programs are designed to "preview" specific upcoming shows, concerts, recitals, etc.
The program generally goes "live on location" immediately prior to the opening in order to interview the director and cast members, and include live rehearsal performances of dramatic and musical segments. A typical month might include programs recorded at the Martin Theatre, Kaleidoscope Theatre, area high schools and, of course, performing arts events at Gulf Coast State College.
Listen Thursdays & Fridays at during the 6:30 AM and PM on GC-90.7 FM |
| Peter Michael's Place |
Peter Michael's Place is a mythical cabaret where great performers, past and present, come to perform. Those "invited" to appear are entertainers "alive and well, and in their prime," although many are in fact no longer with us.
Judy Garland serves as the offical"greeter" and each program ends with one of her performances. A typical show might include Michael Buble, Nat Cole, Peggy Lee, Barbara Cook, Jane Monheit, John Pizzarelli, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme, George Shearing, Diana Krall, Chris Botti.
Because the program is both preceded and followed by the Jazzworks block on WKGC AM, there is an emphasis on performers and performances that are jazz "infused" and whenever possible, live recordings are used.
New shows every weekend on GC-1480 AM
Saturday/Sunday noon-2pm |

Showcase of Show Tunes celebrates Broadway, Hollywood, the concert stage, cabaret, radio and TV from early in the past century to the current scene.
Some weeks the program premieres just released original cast recordings, other times we may feature shows, songs and personalities from the past. Some weeks there will be an overall theme, e. g., Americana, show tunes about New York, about animals, unrequited love, etc. In addition, the program on occasion features rare archival material, including major composers (Richard Rodgers, Stephen Sondheim, etc.) commenting on and playing their compositions.
Listen to Showcase of Show Tunes Sundays from 2-4 p.m. on GC-90.7 FM |
